Today's Horoscope This week This month
Leo horoscope for December 2023
For you, December is a month where a balance between work and play will always be in the spotlight, but where there will be a swing from one to the other and at some point, an overlap. That is because the Sun will always spend the first three weeks of December in a playful and creative part of your chart only to return to your busy work sector just before Christmas each year. Yet while this is something that the Sun always has and always will do on the December solstice each year Venus and Mercury, who are never too far away don't follow the same strict timetable. For that reason, it is not unusual to see things start to move in your busy work sector before the Sun returns or a playful and creative part of your chart stay active after he returns.
This year you have the same but to a much greater degree than is normally the case. In 2022, the Sun was the last to leave a playful and creative part of your chart and when he left, he left it empty until the Sun, Mars and the dwarf planet Ceres returned last month. That won't be the case this year, with Mars continuing to fuel your passion for adventure until he leaves in early January, Ceres not leaving until February and Venus not even returning until 30th December. Rather than all cosmic activity in this fun, playful, romantic and creatively charged part of your chart when the Sun leaves on 22nd December, this will become party central.
At the same time, while the Sun won't return for what will be his last visit to your work sector while Pluto is here until 21st December, Mercury's return on 2nd December will be a chance to get your head in the game from the start of the month. However, this is something that Mercury won't fully commit to and instead, a retrograde turn on 13th December will see him retrograded back out on 23rd December, joining the rest of the planets in a playful and creative part of your chart a day after the Sun leaves. Meanwhile, still running behind schedule, after leaving your communication sector and wrapping up a mission to give your heart and your relationships a voice on 5th December, Venus will spend until 30th December putting your heart's focus on things close to home.
Love & Romance
Because the Sun will always spend the first three weeks of December in your romantic sector, the solar spotlight is always on matters of the heart and all things romantic at this time of year. The Sun will always leave on the December solstice, so will always be gone before Christmas and last year this brought all planetary activity on the romantic front for the year to a close. This year couldn't be more different, for by the time the Sun returns the best is still to come and considering that Mars has already returned for his first visit in two years, that is saying something. As the planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos, Mars returned during the Sun's first full day to fire up your romantic passions and fighting spirit. With Mars not leaving until early January, he will spend the rest of the year in your romantic sector and during what can be the busiest weeks of any year, he will be a champion for the spirit of romance. However, it wasn't just the Sun and Mars who returned to your romantic sector last month, with the dwarf planet Ceres having returned a day later to begin her first deep dive into your heart's needs and priorities in four years. With Ceres not leaving until February, this is something that will continue to evolve. Meanwhile, while you start the month with Mercury in your romantic sector as well, with his departure on 2nd December not so much ending his mission to give your heart a voice and to put heart and mind on the same page but putting it on hold.
Mercury will be gone when the Moon returns to your romantic sector from 12th December to 14th December and for the New Moon this will create on 13th December. However, on the same day, a retrograde turn will see Mercury make a U turn, something that will see him return for a double dip visit on 23rd December, a day after the Sun leaves. Yet the love gods are still saving the best until last with Venus, the planet of love returning on 30th December to make the final days of 2023 and the early weeks of 2024 the most romantically charged.
Business & Career
As you move into the last month of this professional year, to begin with, it is business as usual, which considering the state of play is a good place to be. For the first time in 12 years, you will end one year and start the next with Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion in your career sector while at the same time you have the asteroid Juno, the queen of commitment in your income sector and after months in retrograde motion, Pluto is back in direct motion in your work sector and starting to gain traction. If nothing changed you would be in a good position to bring this professional year home with confidence across the income, work and career fronts. However, while some things will stay the same, there is change in the air and especially on the job front. The Sun will always return to your work sector on the December solstice, making his return on 22nd December the point in each year when the solar spotlight will always shift onto your work situation, job matters and options. However, things will start much earlier than that, with Mercury making an early return on 2nd December. Normally returning with the Sun, this is usually a 14 to 15 day chance to work smarter, get your head in the game, ideas on the table and the communication lines open. However, Mercury returns a little too early, forcing him to hold back. This will see Mercury turn retrograde on 13th December and then retrograde back out 10 days later.
Once he turns direct next month Mercury will not only be back, but before the Sun leaves and with Mars here by then as well. With Pluto, after 15 years in your work sector leaving in January, Mercury's early return is a chance to spend more time bringing this professional year home and preparing for the next. Mercury will still be here when the Moon makes its last visit to your work sector for the year from 14th December to 16th December. This will give you better access to a mix of intuition and logic, imagination and intelligence while with Mercury in retrograde motion by then, a mix of both hindsight and foresight. The Moon will make its last visit to your career sector for the year and before Jupiter turns direct on 31st December, from 22nd December to 24th December.
Money
While you will move into the new month with planetary activity on both sides of the financial fence, there is no competition between the two and both are fairly low key but deceptively powerful. Most deceptive is on the income side of the financial fence, where the asteroid Juno is a tiny player that is punching well above her weight. It was back in October that the queen of commitment returned with Venus to capitalise on the traffic that had already moved through. While Venus left a month later, instead of getting ready to leave, Juno is slowing down ahead of a retrograde turn next month that will keep her here until August. This is giving you a sense of resolve to draw on, but it was Juno's friendly aspect to Jupiter in your career sector last month and to the planets as they start to return to your work sector this month, that is bringing her into the fold. As Juno is not a full sized planet, she won't be drawing too much attention, but she will be there in the background, giving you a sense of resolve and access to the money and the more dominant players on the professional front do their thing. This is something that you will get a taste of when the Moon moves through your income sector from 4th December to 6th December, something that can sharpen your nose for money and act as a trigger in Mercury's early days in your work sector.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the financial fence money matters are just coming out of hibernation after months in retrograde motion and time spent focused on where you have been rather than on where you are going. Here, on the side of the financial fence where it is more about what you do with and how you manage the money you have some of the most powerful planets in the solar system. However, with Saturn still in his early days in direct motion and Neptune not turning direct until 7th December, money matters are just coming out of review mode and are still transitioning from the rear view mirror to the road ahead. You will get a better read on this and on money matters when the Moon moves through your financial sector from 18th December to 20th December.
